Child Left Way Behind

The article i read was by Bob Herbert and it was called, Left Behind, Way Behind. This article is about the school system here in the U.S. and how only 2/3 of the high school population graduate with a diploma. Out of those who graduate about half can not even read well at a college level. The main reason why i think children are falling behind is how our school tax system is set up. We should give the money in the hands in the parents and allow them to pick which school. That way the school become competitive in educating the children. Get rid of the teachers union so the teachers have to work to keep their jobs. Some teachers become lazy after working there for such a long time. I have personally experienced from teachers who are just too lazy to even teach. Another think we should not allow minorities to pass on too the next grade to just to get rid of them. They do this when the are tired of dealing with a certain child that is giving them a hard time. The school system should make sure that the students are able to do simple college math and science and more importantly are able to read at a college level. Some teachers and school talk in Ebonics to talk to some of the minorities, and I have even seen some of the text books written in this on the west coast. Just make sure the books are all in proper English for the learning students.
